Claire can’t remember a time when writing wasn’t part of her life. Growing up, she used to write stories with her friends. As a teenager she started out reading fantasy and science fiction, but her diet quickly changed to romance and happily-ever-after’s. A native of Massachusetts and cold weather, she left all that behind to move to the sun and fun of California, but has always lived no more than twenty miles from the ocean.

In college she studied acting with a minor in creative writing. In hindsight she should have flipped course studies. Before she was published, she sold books on eBay and discovered some of her favorite authors by sampling the goods, which was the perfect solution. Claire has many book-irons in the fire, most notably her urban fantasy series, The Elementals’ Challenge series, but writes contemporary and shifter romances as well as.

While she’s not a movie mogul or actor, she does work in the film industry with her office firmly situated in the 90210 district of Hollywood. Prone to break out into song, she is quick on feet and just as quick with snappy dialogue. In addition to writing she does animal rescue, reads, and goes to movies. She loves to hear from fans, so feel free to drop her a line.

Adrienne Brodeur
Author of Man Camp

You think you know exactly what you want in a man, right? You can probably even list the attributes, qualities and qualifications that your future husband needs in order to apply for the job of your mate. I had a three-tiered system myself. First, there were the requirements: an interesting profession (preferably in the arts), a great sense of humor, a sterling character, financial security. Next, there was the frosting (as in, wouldn’t-it-be-nice-if-he-were…): over six feet tall, devastatingly handsome, a cat lover. And finally, there were the deal breakers: children, difficult ex-wives, bad toupees. Of course, like you, I fancied myself to be magnanimous and flexible in as much as I was willing to overlook certain undesirable traits – say, thinning hair and a few extra pounds – for the perfect guy. Now, even if your list is different from mine, I think you know what I’m talking about.

How to Build a Home Library by Buying Books in Bulk

One of the best ways to truly personalize your home is by adding a home library containing all of your favorite book titles. All of your varied interests and pursuits can be put on display in one place, and allow you to have any immediately necessary information right at your fingertips. Stylistically, libraries can be an impressive and arresting addition to your home. Whether it is a simple shelving unit, or an entire room devoted to literature, one of the easiest ways to populate your library is by buying books in bulk from wholesale book distributors. These distributors are able to sell multiple copies of the same title, or sell groupings of books that fall under the same genre or are written by the same author. It is for this reason that individuals can create a home library without spending excessively by purchasing individual titles only. There are several considerations when building a library:

Review: Summer Daydreams

Title: Summer Daydreams
Author: Carole Matthews
Publisher: Sphere
Release Date: May 1, 2012
Genre: Fiction / Chick Lit
Source: Author
Reviewer: Arnett R.

DESCRIPTION:
What if you had always dreamed of something more…? Nell McNamara has a happy life: her boyfriend Olly adores her, their four-year-old daughter Petal is the center of their world and Nell has a steady job in the local chip shop. When the chippy needs a makeover, Nell jumps at the chance to unleash the creativity fizzing inside her. Inspired by what she can achieve – and encouraged by the very best friends a girl can have – Nell is determined to try something new. Waving goodbye to the chip shop, she starts up a new business making her own line of must-have handbags, which are soon flying off the shelves. It seems Nell’s dreams are finally coming true, but her success doesn’t come without a price. Before too long, Nell has to ask herself if it’s really possible to have it all…Full of fun, love and laughter, soak up the sunshine with Summer Daydreams.

MY THOUGHTS:
This is a great story about having a hidden dream and stumbling into fulfilling it. Nell is sweet and naïve about what it takes to succeed but pulls through with hard work, the help of Phillip, Olly and the rest of the folks at Live and Let Fry.

Olly for me is the winner in this story; it is all about Nell, but what a great secondary character.  He stole the girlish/romantic side of me, stand by your woman through thick or thin, a little jealousy, a little pouting but lots of bravery in the end, a knight in shining armor.

A feel good read, may be a little off putting to readers who are not British because of the spelling of some words, a little long in the middle, but would recommend this book as a great way to spend a quiet afternoon.  All in all I loved it.

MY RATING:

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Carole Matthews is an internationally bestselling author of hugely successful romantic comedy novels. Her unique sense of humor has won her legions of fans and critical acclaim all over the world.

As well as appearing on the Sunday Times and USA Today bestseller lists, Carole is published in 30 different countries. Her novels Welcome To The Real World and Wrapped Up In You were shortlisted for the RNA romantic novel of the year award.

In the USA, the hilarious For Better, For Worse was selected by one of America’s top TV book clubs – Reading with Ripa on LIVE with Regis and Kelly – as their book of the month. As a result it went straight into the USA Today and New York Times Extended bestseller lists.

Carole co-edited two editions of the hugely popular Girls’ Night In charity series called Girls’ Night Out – one for the USA and one for Canada. All proceeds go to War Child. She has recently contributed a story to an anthology for the Romantic Novelists’ Association, Loves Me, Loves Me Not. Carole has presented on television and is a regular radio guest.

Born in St Helens, Merseyside, Carole has always been an avid reader and dreamed of being a teacher, an air traffic controller, a travel guide or a hairdresser – writer never featured once. Leaving Liverpool for London after a torrid holiday romance in Torquay, she worked as a secretary, an ice-cream lady, a shop assistant and a beauty therapist. It was when she was working in a completely mad holistic clinic that she first thought ‘one day I should write a book about this.’ She still hasn’t got round to it.

Here’s a little more about A Cowboy In Manhattan:

Valentine's Day Love Hop

This is a mirror blog post for those of you who have not switched your GFC membership to my new location: http://ageisjustanumber.deeswhite.com

Once Upon a Twilight

The ladies over at Good Choice Reading and Once Upon a Twilight came up with the idea to celebrate Valentine's day with a Blog Hop that would allow book bloggers to share some really GREAT Books with LOVE! At the last count, 78 other blogs (including myself) thought it was a fabulous idea and joined up.

For my love related giveaway I teamed up with a fellow author and we're each going to give away a copy of our books. Since this giveaway is about love, allow me to share the definition of love that I live by:
1 If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. 3 If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.
4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. ---1 Cor. 13:1-7 NLT
